Is Online Marketing Too Hard for You?

Ok, this is a rant but it needs to be said… I got another email the other day from someone lamenting at how darn difficult it is to start and run an online business. He went on and on about his struggles, challenges, problems… how he didn’t have anyone to sit right there and show him step by step what to do, that he had to read BOOKS and watch VIDEOS to learn things… He was literally convincing himself that he couldn’t do it.

Is Online Marketing Too Hard for You?

This man is a friend of mine. He’s 42 years old, has a good job, a college education and a lousy attitude.

Finally I got sick of his whining and I sent him this note:

“Dear Peter,

What I’m about to say, I say with love and the deepest of respect.

I want to tell you about a 14 year old boy named William Kamkwamba.

William was born into poverty in a small Malawi village in Africa.

Because of a crippling famine, William was forced to drop out of school since his family could no longer afford the tuition. To further his education, William used his spare time to study books in the village library, where he evidently learned some stuff all on his own.

His village had no electricity and no running water. So at the ripe old age of 14 and using what he learned from those books, William built a wind turbine out of blue gum trees, bicycle parts and scrap.

This turbine along with future turbines William built powered his entire village.

Next, William built a solar-powered water pump to supply the first drinking water to his village.

Of course, William had many advantages you do not. He didn’t have decades of life experience like you do.

He didn’t know that things were supposed to be hard. He didn’t know to complain. He didn’t know that what you learn in books is useless.

You’re smarter than William. You know how hard it is to get motivated when you already have drinking water, food, a home and so forth.

And books – you know how difficult it is to read and learn from those silly things. After all, the only thing in them is the knowledge of experts who’ve already done the things you want to do.

You know how hard it is to move that mouse and tap those keys.

Starting an online business? You know it’s impossible.

But William… he didn’t know any of those things.

And at 14 he brought power and water to his entire village all by himself.

Maybe you could ask William to show you how to build your online business…

😉

Love,

Charles Vincent Kaluwasha

Is a Home Business Right For You?

Is a Home Business Right For You?

Every morning as people wake up and make the commute to work,
many dream of the day when they will finally work for
themselves. Every time the boss lets someone know that they must
give up their weekend plans for the good of the company, people
contemplate the benefits of being the owner of their own
business.

Are you one of these people?
If you are, it is important to ask yourself some very important
questions before you make the uncertain leap into
self-employment.
Many dream of the benefits of home business ownership, but few
take into account the sacrifices that must be made to bring the
dream to fruition. Please don’t make this mistake yourself.
You must approach home business ownership with your eyes wide
open. Ask yourself the important questions, and more
importantly, answer your own questions openly and honestly.

AN IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION

Are you the type of person who relishes every chance to gather
around the water cooler for social interaction?

If so, then home business ownership may not be the right
decision for you.

Instead, if you feel that you can be quite content sitting alone
at your desk; speaking only to clients and really minding your
own home business, then you might have what it takes to succeed
as a home business entrepreneur.

If you feel at ease with your own company and don’t need a dozen
coworkers milling around your desk, then you, too, could savor
the freedoms that will allow you and your family, to live the
lifestyle you know you want and deserve.

THE KEY TO HOME BUSINESS SUCCESS

Self-motivation is the key to success when you start a
home-based business. You need to have the ability to push
yourself ahead. Your drive and determination will be reinforced
with every new sale.

The level of success that you will achieve greatly depends on
the time and effort you are willing to plow into your new home
business. Your organization, planning and marketing skills, will
all be put into practice when you embark on your liberating
journey from employee, to being your own boss. In fact, you will
be the wearer of many hats and gain a wealth of business
experience along the way, when you finally make that commitment
to work at home.

YOUR SUCCESS RESTS ENTIRELY UPON YOUR OWN SHOULDERS

You will now be the boss. Are you truly able to work
independently? Do you have the drive; the tenacity, to persevere
with your home based business? Will you be able to invest the
necessary time to nurture it, to watch it grow and see it
through, from germination to full, glorious bloom? When you’re
the boss, you are responsible for the success of your home
business, from A to Z, from disappointments to victory.

When you work at home, it will allow you to make many
things you were unable to do when you were stuck working for
that tyrant boss. Remember him? He’s the guy that wouldn’t let
you take time off when your baby was sick…the same guy that
called you in to work on Thanksgiving Day.

A home business means that you can take good care of your family
and make money from home, simultaneously. You will have the best
of both worlds! Just think–no more dirty laundry piling up–you
can do it while you work. No more scurrying around at the last
minute searching for a babysitter either. And no more worrying
about getting fired; you’ll be the boss!

IN CONCLUSION…

Stay positive and focused on your home based business, even if,
when sales aren’t up to par, you get occasional negative remarks
or derogatory comments from people with stuffy, dead-end jobs.
Ignore their cutting words and bear in mind that success is the
best revenge! Keep your admirable, positive attitude at the
forefront and show them what you’re made of!

How to Stay Focused on Your Home Business Goals

When you are the owner of a home business, you will find hundreds of distractions that vie for your time, energy and focus. Common distractions include: children, family, friends, neighbors, pets, phone calls, mail, household chores, video games, television, neighborhood children, visitors, and so many more.

How to Stay Focused on Your Home Business Goals

As an owner of a home based business, you must always remember your purpose in bringing your profession home. What was your reason for wanting to own a home business? Was your goal to work from home so that you can share in the lives of your children? Was your goal to be out from under the rule of a tyrannical boss? Was your goal to have the freedom to work when it is convenient for you? Was your goal to make tons of money working for yourself?

Here’s a few good tips that will help you stay focused on your home business:

TIP #1:
Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your reason in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your reason for starting your own home business, you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities — and when circumstance is in the driver’s seat, you are more likely to crash and burn.

TIP #2:
Remember — your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialize, and others — most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment — go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn’t it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?

Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.

TIP #3:
When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.

With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business.

TIP #4:
Don’t permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.

Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialization.

You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE
working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business.

You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do.

TIP #5:
You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.

Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.

TIP #6:
When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.

As an example, you might be in the mail-order business. You might believe that your time is best spent writing ad copy and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you.

CONCLUSION:
In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.

You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.

Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.

Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, have the discipline necessary to reach them.

Making the Decision to Work from Home

One of the most important decisions you will ever make in your life is what kind of career you are going to have. Many people out there plan their career from the time they are in high school and work diligently to make sure they have the education that they need to make their dreams come true. There are also people out there that haven’t had the opportunity, for whatever reason, to get the education they needed to work in the field they have always dreamt of working in. These people will often take whatever jobs they can find in order to make ends meet and survive.

Making the Decision to Work from Home

Once one starts in a job, even one that may not pay sufficiently or be very satisfying, many people end up staying there while. In order to make a change, one must make a decision to break the cycle and do something that is different from what they know or are comfortable doing. Some people will take on extra jobs in order to get the money they need to go back to school and find a better career while others will adjust their lifestyle to fit the amount of money they have coming in.

There are still others out there that decide to take things into their own hands and start a home based business. These people tend to believe in themselves and are motivated enough to make sure their dream of working from home can be turned into a reality. Frankly, these are the kind of people that will do whatever it takes to make sure they are successful in the line of work or home based business they choose.

You see, building a successful home business doesn’t really require more work than building a successful career in the work force. The difference between those who work for themselves at home and people who work for a boss in the “real world” usually comes down to a self-motivated mindset and unwavering commitment to work until you are successful. And employee might be motivated to work until their shift is over, while an entrepreneur is compelled to work until they have achieved their goals.

Working from home can be highly rewarding if you are willing to put the effort into making it work for you. You are going to find times when you are pulling long hours and not getting many days off when you start out, but that is part of the appeal of working from home. You don’t have to worry about doing those long hours and then commuting home only to go back to the office in a few hours. You can also take breaks or days off when you want once you are successful because the only boss of you, will be yourself.

Working from home isn’t usually like what some people fantasize about where you walking around in your pajamas all day looking like you just got out of bed… In fact, if that’s how you are dressed while you are working, then you probably aren’t taking your home-based business career very seriously, and your results will be half asleep as well. Just because no one else is around you doesn’t mean that you have to let yourself go and become unprofessional in your dressing habits. Maintaining your professional attitude is the key to having your home based business become a success and is something that you should strive for on all levels whether you work a job, or your own business at home.

Making the decision to build a successful home business is really the primary key to success. Just remember that the word decision means to “cut off from” all other possibilities. When you truly decide that you are going to build a successful home business, you surely will. And if you fall short of the success you dreamed of, well, you didn’t really make a decision, did you? That’s just a hope and a dream, and that won’t take you very far down the road to home business success. Think about it, and go all in.

Home Business Management Requires Discipline

While many new home businesses launch every day, the truth is that many are failing.

Home Business Management Requires Discipline

One main reason for home business failure has to do with a lack of discipline. Working for someone else whether inside the home or commuting, allows one to have a set schedule and daily tasks that they need to follow. When you work for yourself, you have to set your own goals and objectives, and have the discipline to follow your plan.

Anyone can start a home business, but that doesn’t mean that everyone should. Some people who started and closed their businesses should never have gone to work for themselves to begin with. Many lack the dedication to follow through and keep up the pace that is necessary to be successful.

Some people are simply seduced by ads and word of mouth when they hear others talk about how great and freeing it is to work for them elves in their own home. A home business is a great opportunity for some but others need to have a boss prodding them to get through the day, or someone else who can tell them what needs to be done.

After the excitement has worn off of starting your own home business, it will quickly become clear that it’s not fun and games. Everything depends on you. From taking orders, handling sales calls, customer service, running a website, collecting money and mailing packages – it all rests on your shoulders. If your business grows, you can hire an extra set of hands to deal with the backlog, but in the beginning to keep costs down, most home businesses are run by the people who created them.

Quitting your regular job to work at home because you expect to have lots of free time and extra money to spend is a huge myth that causes many to quit. A business that is just starting up will take up a lot of your time. To handle all of the work, you can easily find yourself working well into the early morning hours. You can also start to spend less time with your family as you strive to build your business.

Extra money to spend is something that you will often not see for months or years because you will need to pay bills for your business and home costs, and you will need to spend more money in marketing and development to grow your home business.

When people advertise stories about working from home, they will tell you about the glitz and glamour. You will be told that you can roll out of bed at anytime and work in your pajamas. This is a bad idea because every business needs to run on a consistent schedule if it is going to be successful long-term.

All of this said, there is a new bread of home business opportunity called affiliate marketing where you can simply join an existing business or business opportunity who will provide all the products and marketing materials for you. They will even handle all of the order processing, payment collections, product shipping and customer service on your behalf. In fact, some of the affiliate programs that I am building my own home business online with are shown here on my website (check them out).

Whether you are building a traditional home business, or an affiliate marketing based home business, nothing will take the place of personal discipline and having a daily action plan that you follow to get the word out and grow your business successfully. If you have the inner-discipline required to make your own daily plan (and follow it), there are few freedoms greater than that of being able to call your own shots and work for yourself from the comfort and convenience of home!
